cheat sheet – information center

I am often asked how to find syslog commands on Huawei devices. As one is familiar with Cisco‘s devices, he is looking for “logging” command in Huawei’s VRP. And this is the main problem. Remember that equivalent of Cisco’s logging is info-center on Huawei.

The information center functions as an information hub. The information center manages most output information. Output information is classified and then effectively filtered. Together with debugging commands and the SNMP module, the information center provides powerful support for the network administrator to monitor the operation of devices and locate faults.

Generally speaking, the information center distributes three types of information with eight severity levels to ten information channels, and then outputs that information in different directions.

Today I decided to create a simple cheat sheet, describing Huawei’s information center:

cheat sheet – Huawei CLI

I have been describing Huawei datacom devices on my blog since July 2011. I started with some basic information about Huawei CLI, access methods and upgrade procedures. Then I showed you more advanced topics like PBR, DHCP etc. I am pleasantly surprised that this blog is visited by people from all continents, even from countries I have never heard about. As this blog is getting more and more popular I will do my best to publish more interesting posts.

As we went through a some stage, I have decided to prepare a cheat sheet describing Huawei CLI. You can download it as PDF, print and keep it :). I hope it will be useful for you.

cheat sheet – ACL applications

Our blog topics touched access lists ACLs, used on Huawei devices. We talked about ACLs in traffic policies, ACLs and their matching order, ACLs in PBR and so on and so forth.

As ACLs are widely used, I decided to prepare a simple cheat sheet, that describes three kinds of ACLs (the most often used) and their usage scenarios.

Additionally a new page has been opened. I will upload new cheat sheets there, when they are ready.

Have a suggestion for a cheat sheet? Create your own? Let us know in comments.
